Course Description: This course examines in detail the various types of mobile water supply & pumping apparatus on the market today. The students utilizing NFPA standards 1901, 1904, and 1500, will identify the proper chapters on a given situation. Topics will include: driving & operating, apparatus placement on an emergency incident, types of pumps, tests, equipment, drafting, relay pumping, water shuttle and maintenance on various types of apparatus. The books will be provided for this course and the course is free. Driver Operator – Mobile Water Supply certification pre-requisite:
• First Class Firefighter or Firefighter I for 1 year
• A valid driver’s license
Major Course Objectives:
1. Describe the history of fire apparatus.
2. Describe driving techniques.
3. Describe NFPA standards.
4. Describe fill site & dump site operation.
5. Describe relay pumping.
Attendance: Students are expected to attend (and participate in) all class and practical sessions. Absences exceeding 20% of total class time may constitute reason for the instructor withdrawing/dropping the student from the course.
