INTRODUCTION TO LINE-OF-DUTY DEATH (LODD) AND PUBLIC SAFETY OFFICERS' BENEFITS (PSOB)

Whether you are a frontline public safety officer (police officer, firefighter or EMS provider), supervisor, head of a public safety agency, family member of someone who serves, survivor of a fallen hero, or someone who just wants to know more about Line of Duty Death and/or Public Safety Officers' Benefits, you will find this FREE class interesting and enlightening.

You will also quickly find that neither topic is as simple as it seems.

Unfortunately, there are many widely held myths that affect understanding of these very important topics and therefore expectations at all levels. There have also been many changes to the PSOB laws and regulations in recent years with very little awareness. This class cuts through the myths and gives you the information YOU need to know -- regardless of your role or position.

The information is presented in simple terms with several thought-provoking scenarios interspersed throughout. Participants are able to respond to the scenarios anonymously by means of electronic polling -- thus enabling them to test their own understanding and to see how the group thinks as a whole. This not only adds an element of entertainment but also facilitates understanding.

Feedback from participants in over 35 states and Canada has been very positive -- with many even reporting learning new information they considered a 'revelation.'

We are confident you also will find this FREE class to be time well spent.

Courage to Be Safe®

This provocative and moving presentation is designed to change the culture of accepting the loss of firefighters as a normal occurrence.

Firefighters must have the courage to face a multitude of risks in order to save lives and protect their communities. Their courage allows them to willingly risk their own lives so that others can be saved. A different type of courage is required to stay safe in potentially dangerous situations, avoiding needless risks and tragic consequences. This provocative and moving presentation is designed to change the culture of accepting the loss of firefighters as a normal occurrence. Building on the untold story of LODD survivors, it reveals how family members must live with the consequences of a firefighter death and provides a focus on the need for firefighters and officers to change fundamental attitudes and behaviors in order to prevent line of duty deaths. The central theme promotes the courage to do the right thing in order to protect yourself and other firefighters and ensure that "Everyone Goes Home" at the end of the day.
