Course prerequisites: First Class Firefighter or Firefighter I for 1 year • A valid driver’s license

Course Description: This course examines in detail the various types of mobile water supply & pumping apparatus on the market today. The students utilizing NFPA standards 1901, 1904 and 1500, will identify the proper chapters on a given situation. Topics will include: driving & operating, apparatus placement on an emergency incident, types of pumps, tests, equipment, drafting, relay pumping, water shuttle and maintenance on various types apparatus.
Major Course Objectives:
1. Describe the history of fire apparatus
2. Describe driving techniques
3. Describe NFPA standards
4. Describe spotting and using a hydrant
5. Describe relay pumping
Attendance: Students are expected to attend (and participate in) all classes and practical sessions. Absences exceeding 20% of the total class time may constitute reason for the instructor withdrawing/dropping the student from the course.
