The Fort Wayne Fire Department is hosting a Trench Rescue Operations and Technician class from April 10- July 31, 2013. The class will be held at the FWFD Fire Academy located at 2700 Dwenger Avenue, Fort Wayne, IN 46803. The class will be offered three shift days to accommodate schedules. (Example: April 10, 17, 24 are the same class.)  Pre-requisites for this course are Confined Space Rescue Technician, and Vehicle/Machinery Technician. You must meet the pre-requisites for the course to enroll. Students must have proper PPE including helmet, gloves, coveralls, steel-toe boots, and eye protection. This course is free and books will be provided. If the course fills to capacity, preference will be given to District 3 Technical Rescue Element members. Classes are 8:30am-4:30pm each day. Andrew Deatrick Join us at the Ivy Tech Public Safety Academy on May 25th, 2013 from 9am-12noon for an Instructor In-Service that will demonstrate other options for delivering your training.

Instructor Andrew Deatrick was the recent recipient of the Northwest Allen School “Teacher of the Year” and has been with Northwest Allen County Schools since 2008. Mr. Deatrick teaches Biology I Honors, and Project Lead The Way: Medical Interventions. He employs an instructional technique called "flipped classroom." In traditional classrooms, the teacher is usually the star who is in charge of giving information to the students. In a flipped classroom, the students are the stars. They are in charge of discovering the information, and the instructor is there as their guide.

Students should bring a laptop computer, iPad, or tablet to class if they have one available.

Adams County and District 3 Fire Training are hosting a Firefighter I & II Module Program. This program includes the full Mandatory Firefighter, Firefighter I & II and HazMat Awareness and Operations programs but broken down into module format with individual testing with each module.

The Module format allows the student to complete each module and test vs. the traditional summative test at the end of the course. Each module must be completed in its entirety before continuing to the next module.

Books are included with the course. The course is free however you must have NFPA compliant PPE and SCBA and be affiliated with a fire department.

This course is designed to provide FIRE/Rescue, EMS personnel, and Farm Operators with a better understanding of strategies for preventing and responding to farm accidents. This 2 day course is designed as a comprehensive introduction to various farm accident rescue responses. This course will include state of the art farm accident rescue strategies, and first-responder injury prevention. Day one will include classroom discussion and live demonstrations, and day two will be hands on rescue procedures with live patient extrication and trauma care. Registration Fee - $175 per person Fire/EMS - 16 Hours In-Service
