Course Description:

The objective of this course is to provide skills necessary to begin, at the emergency location, assessment and care for injured or ill patients.

The 42 hour training program is presented in 5 days of instruction and is designed to give the participant the knowledge and skills to perform patient assessment, bleeding control and bandaging, fracture management, medical emergency management, CPR, automatic external defibrillator, and oxygen administration. It is intended for personnel who may respond to emergency medical incidents. Included in the course is a final examination, which upon successful completion certifies the participant as a Maryland First Responder for three years.

Course Description:

Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is a nationally recognized continuing education program for prehospital emergency health professionals that focuses on the care of the trauma patient. The PHTLS course provides a prehospital trauma care philosophy, stressing the need to treat the multi-system trauma patient as a unique entity with specific needs that requires an approach to treatment that varies from traditional treatment modalities.

To provide the practicing prehospital care provider with a specific body of knowledge related to the prehospital assessment and care of the trauma patient. As a continuing education program, it contains information that may be a review for some or all participants. The uniqueness of this program rests not with an entirely new body of information, but instead with advances in prehospital trauma intervention techniques. Students will learn to use new combinations and applications of existing skills and knowledge to better the patient's chances at surviving traumatic events.

Course Description:

The Advanced Cardiac Life Support (eACLS) course is a customized course for prehospital and hospital professionals. The program provides a case-based approach to Advanced Cardiac Life Support training. It is a highly interactive on-line program including more than 200 live-action video clips and 500 photos, illustrations and animations to reinforce the student's ability to assess and manage life-threatening cardiac and respiratory emergencies.

The eACLS course is comprised of ten interactive case studies focusing on serious respiratory and cardiac emergencies. A resources section is also available for students to review ECGs, pharmacology and electrical therapy at any time.
