Driver Operator

The purpose of the Driver Operator Pumper course is to provide entry-level pumper operators with the knowledge and skills to meet the minimum job performance requirements outlined in NFPA 1002.   Candidates must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to function safely and effectively as a pumper operator. Candidates will be expected to perform maintenance duties, drive and operate a pumper and perform under mock emergency conditions.

The objective of this course is to provide the knowledge and skills to operate a fire department aerial ladder truck and associated equipment.

Course Description:

This course is based on NFPA 1002, Standard on Fire Apparatus Driver/Operator Professional Qualifications. The course is designed for fire apparatus drivers who will be operating a vehicle designed primarily for transporting (pickup, transporting, and delivering) water to fire emergency scenes to be applied by other vehicles or pumping equipment.

This course is the combined Fire Service Driver Operator Pump and Aerial program.
